Secret Harbor Beach, Lake Tahoe

August 30, 2026

Tahoe Beaches page.

To get to this beach you park your car at the road and then hike down the hill to the water. The trails are confusing because there are many routes. However, it doesn’t really matter which you take as they all go down to the water.

We look for landmarks though so that on the way back we hopefully find our way up to where the car is parked.

The trail is steep in some places, which mattered more on the way back rather than on the way down.

As per usual in the Lake Tahoe area, the surrounding trees, brush and monster size boulders were wonderful to look at.

At first glance, we wonder if this is a good spot or if we should hike to a better location along the water.

It turns out to be perfect. Lots of interesting rocks, a nice sandy beach.

Surprisingly, there aren’t that many folks around and we will get to enjoy the beach with the few folks that are there.

Someone decides its time to get into the water.

Fortunately, no one dropped a phone in the water while we took selfies.

My wife and her cousin put on traditional clothing for photo taking.

Mai takes on a dramatic pose.

I like to do some portrait taking on our excursions.

A dive attempt from standing on a rock that was just below the surface.

The girls enjoy their company as much as the photo taking.

We plan on being their till sundown as the low sun provides for great picture taking opportunities.

I notice I have very long legs according to my shadow.

I get some pictures of the seaguls in their environment.

The low angle of the sun provides for warm colors.

The sun is close to sunset.

The group scurries to get some last minute touching sunset photos.

The sun decides to call it quits.
