Lake Genevieve and Lake Crag

We joined my wife’s cousin and her family on a hike in the Lake Tahoe area. The trailhead is called Meeks Bay Trail. From there the trail goes to our main destination, Lake Genevieve, and then shortly afterwards Lake Crag.

We are off. The young men in our party will lead and occasionally wait for us to catch up. The first part of the hike was under some restoration construction.

We saw workers, log piles, sawdust piles and for a short while it was a very dusty road rather than a trail.

The early part of the hike was open as previously burnt trees were being removed.

We are on a normal trail now, with some uphill.

This area has tremendous rocks. I end up taking lots of photos like this along the trails on this hike and the one we did the following day.

In our party we have Stan Andrew Vang, an actor and filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Like the rest of his family, he was quite cheerful and a wonderful person to be with.

For me, the large rocks among the trees and shrubs make the scenery powerfully dramatic and this is at nearly every turn of the trail.

We reach Lake Genevieve. I’m surprised to see so few other hikers and feel quite lucky to be able to enjoy this.

My wife was encouraged by her cousin to bring her Hmong clothing. They will take some pictures of them wearing it in the water and generally have a giggly fun time doing so.
