Angora Lakes Trail

This is an easy short hike. However Steve, as our hike leader and guide, recommended we park long before the trail head as the road along the top of a ridge offers beautiful scenery which is arguably better than the designated hike itself. The road has red lines indicating where you are not allowed to park, but there were plenty of places to park.

The hikers head out.

To the left is a large valley. We can see some buildings in places and mountains off in the distance.

To the right, we can see Mount Tallac off in the distance; yesterday’s hike.

We also see Fallen Leaf Lake below Mount Tallac.

Continuing on.

Someone had created waste piles from the trees. It looks like there was once a fire in these woods.

We turn the corner on the road and this is the current view.

In my imagination, this large rock has the shape of a bison looking out from behind the tree. Can you see it?

We enter the designated trail head.

The wide trail is more of a sand than a dirt.

As we have found in the Lake Tahoe area, there are a lot of really large rocks everywhere.

The trail branches to the left for folks that wish to visit the first lake.

There are small buildings on the other side of the lake.

Mai, who is a fanatic about modeling, gets Ying to take photos.

We reach the second lake which is larger than the first.

This path continues on alongside the second lake and then on to the final lake.

The hill to the right of us is steep and the trees in this area can be very large.

We find that the destination lake has resort buildings beside it.

At this resort, you can rent a boat and rent a cabin.

Here is the third lake.

We look around and take pictures. It is too cold and windy today to make us want to get in the water or rent a boat.

After we are done seeing what we want to see, we head back.
