A-VA: The Android’s Heart
August 12, 2026
My son Charlie, known in the gaming community as “Krankdud”, implemented an amazing 50 level game that was used in the final of the 20th annual Mystery Tournament.

The itch.io store page for the game is here: A-VA: The Android’s Heart.
The Mystery Tournament is a competition where highly skilled gamers play against each other to identify this year’s champion. In each contest, the players are playing a game they have never played before; hence, the “Mystery” part of this.
Here is a YouTube playlist of all of the 262 videos from this years tournament.
Here is the final match where gamer FARIS_V5 plays against AND4H. The video shows two screens as each player works their way through 50 screens. The match is decided after around 40 minutes.
Charlie’s game takes inspiration from the game Dustforce and other precision 2D platformers. Super Meat Boy and Celeste are other games in the genre of precision 2D platformers. Dustforce has been a favorite of Charlie. Years ago, the developers of Dustforce recognized Charlie’s community contributions to Dustforce by sending him original artwork from the game.
If you want to try A-VA: The Android’s Heart, be forewarned that it is a challenge. You could watch the play throughs from the Mystery Tournament final match, though that may spoil the game for you if you prefer to figure out the levels on your own. This kind of game is short, but you likely want to replay it multiple times to get your best time score. One feature of the game is that once to beat a level you have the option to view the “developer replay”.
Since I can only get into the game about seven levels before getting frustrated (I don’t have the skills), Charlie provided me some in-game screen shots of some of the levels.

I also captured a few screen shots from watching the Mystery Tournament final match on my iPad:

I’m very proud of my son Charlie as its clear he is passionate about this game genre and has the determination and skill to design and execute a very challenging and entertaining game. “A-VA: The Android’s Heart” was selected for the final match because the community embraces and celebrates Charlie’s talent.
